The biggest and most successful IT organisations have teams dedicated to the attraction and engagement of the best talent in the industry. The problem is, they have deep pockets and can continue to fish the seas dry. The common recruitment method for mid-sized organisations (putting up an ad online and hoping, relying solely on limited networks, internal referrals) can yield results. Typically though, it’s ad hoc at best, and leads to mediocre hires. Not necessarily bad, but doubtfully optimal, and certainly not reliable.
